Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is a salutary reminder of the capacity of humankind. Jesus arrives in the Holy City to be greeted by the thronging crowd “Hosanna! Hosanna to the King!” We know within the week this cry turns to “Crucify! Crucify!” The ancient liturgical practice to the Church to amplify this by celebrating the Triumphal Entry, and then the gospel Reading for the day is one of the synoptic passion accounts (The whole story of the crucifixion).

I but muse what people like Kevin Rudd thought this morning when they went to church. I wonder if he spared a thought for the elation and jubilation of his election and the following period which lead to him being betrayed by a trusted disciple. And I don’t especially mean to single him out as these scenarios are not that uncommon in politics, and I am sure that Obama must face the same thoughts.
