Tanya Gadiel has continued the exodus of NSW Labor MPs, announcing she won’t recontest her western Sydney seat so she can spend more time with her two young daughters.
Ms Gadiel announced her retirement in her local paper, the Parramatta Advertiser, saying her life as an MP was affecting her daughters Liviya, seven, and Tahlia, five.
“I am leaving politics for the sake of my daughters,” the 38-year-old Parramatta MP said.
This now means that 20 of the 50 ALP members will not be re-contesting their seats. And the are a number of high flyers on the list. 40% is a big turnover. We can be fairly sure that there will not be 50 seats held by the ALP. They need 47 to govern. And they need the legislative council.
